It is possible to gather data from the Registrars of Scotland and perhaps other sources. Former MSP Andy Wightman wished to show data on a map to disseminate ownership data in a simple and inexpensive manner.
Visitors can quickly subscribe at various rates for monthly or yearly timeframes. Once subscribed, visitors can scroll around the map to see land ownership using colour polygons (shapes). Clicking on a Polygon shows more detailed information for that land ownership. The map can be searched by location and owners name etc.
At the Backend, there is a GeoDjango database which allows Andy to update most of the website himself. The eCommerce allows Andy to manage users including giving refunds or even free access for students and other groups.
Inexpensive hosting. Simple and reliable with the freedom to add any content the user wishes on the main website while keeping the mapping side to a limited structured dataset.Visitors can enjoy browsing Scotland and learn about ownership issues. Suitable for the public and businesses.
The user has moved the map to Skye and selected an area. Information is shown in the Property Details.

The user can Search through location information or by placename.

The backend database is accessed through a Web Development Framework called Django.
It allows the owners to edit data much like a word processor with a similar approach to Wordpress.
