Rock Cottage is a converted farm building with large grounds, animals a Garden Chalet and fine views of the West Cork area of Ireland.
A website was required with a Content Management System to enable the owner to add fresh content on a frequent basis. This with a bright modern design.
Wordpress was chosen for this project. The limited number of pages and styles of pages suits the Wordpress capabilities. A large part of this type of task is selecting from pre-prepared themes. A theme is a graphic design with placeholders for site specific content. Think of it as a photo frame. The frame has to look good but then has your specific content (photographs) put in place. Of course with a website the content can be text, photos, maps etc.
The chosen theme makes the website dynamically change depending upon the tool used to view the site. Desktop, small laptop, tablet or smarthpone. All viewers will see a slightly different arrangement.
Photographs were provided by the client.
Training for use of the CMS was the original goal but due to time constraints the owner deferred ongoing work to me on a monthly payment basis. This to add content and work on Search Engine Optimisation to build visitor numbers.
A Responsive Web Design solution which automatically shows the content in the easiest to read format for the particular tool used to view the site. Smartphone users will see a single column and simpler menus. Desktop users will see a traditional web design.
With a bright new design the owners holiday home is highlighted in an engaging manner. There is a Blog for the latest News and Events in the area. Potential visitors can see that the area has a lot to offer. This will help sell the product and boost the SEO leading to more visitors. Early days yet for SEO.
