Sockrush sell socks for men using a subscription based business model. Packs of socks are delivered monthly or quarterely for a period of time.
Sockrush is quite an old website now. Developed in 2005 the owners realised it needed updating and maintenance. Additional SEO effort was required to increase visitors and sales.
The website has been maintained on a monthly contract which has now moved to an hourly rate approach. I look for problems and potential for improvement and respond to the Clients requests.
Websites tend to degrade over time. The code stays the same but the Browsing environment changes. Developed when Microsofts Internet Explorer 6 ruled the browser world a website that is 4-6+ years old is likely to be struggling to perform as once it did.
Note, if you don't know what a Browser is or what version you have you are probably using Internet Explorer at some version. If you have an older PC you may be stuck on IE6. This is not good. Microsoft has ended support for IE6. Search online for tips to upgrade. I recommend Firefox.
The SockRush website is now in as good a condition as it was when launched. But the limitations of the Table driven design are holding the company back. Modern approaches that I use with new websites include XHTML for Standards Compliant structure, CSS for Flexible Design Layout and Model, View, Controller for Database applications. Don't worry if you don't understand these. I can explain in non technical speak when you get in touch. In short, these approaches will stand the test of time. Older sites can be crippled with older approaches. Websites have a shelf life. They don't last forever. Time to Upgrade?
